At the center of our philosophy is respect. The utmost emphasis is given to cultivating a respect for others, caregivers, and oneself. Similarly, we hold a great respect for children and for this exciting time in their lives when they get to be just that--children!
We believe that children flourish best when encouraged to be themselves. We've created an environment that fosters creative play, learning by doing, asking questions, and personal expression. Kid Power espouses a "back-to-basics" approach using simple, classic toys and eliminating the television from our daily routine. Reading both aloud and individually is the cornerstone of this approach, as it not only teaches literacy, but also teaches about the world we live in, is used as a discussion platform, allows for quiet time, and sparks imagination.
It is our responsibility as adults to guide children in the direction of becoming responsible and thoughtful citizens of the world. Asking questions, learning to find answers for one's own self, and having accessible and approachable adults is key to this goal. We encourage habits of sustainable living and compassion for all people as an integral part of daily life.
Learning through play is the best way for children (and adults!) to grow and understand an idea. Kid Power strives to fill each day with learning, love, and fun.
